THE PERFECT SOLAR STORM OF LATE OCTOBER 2003

Here are a few pictures I shot of the great sunspot outbreak on October 28, 2003. The two major sunspots are about Jupiter sized. Major solar flares and eruptions have been occurring with these sunspots. View photos of the aurora seen about 7:30pm EST on October 30, 2003: One / Two / Three / Four. The aurora happens to occur on the 12th anniversary of the "Perfect Storm" of October 30-31, 1991 which was the unnamed storm (info) that raged in much of
New England. It was also the first aurora I remember seeing since 1973. Click on images to enlarge.
