HOLY SMOKE!! SOME UNUSUAL HAZE - JULY 7, 2002

Click on images below to enlarge. The haze was so thick that the Sun scarcely casted shadows even at nooontime on Sunday, July 7, 2002. All images taken with my Nikon Coolpix 995 digital camera from Arlington, MA on my way to church. The extra heavy haze was due to forest files caused by lightning strikes up towards James Bay in Quebec, Canada. Vidz-ibility was about 2 miles or so around Boston, MA. The plume of smoke extended over much of the East coast of the USA and went up to about 12,000 feet.

This was at about 9:15-9:30AM, NOT sunrise or sunset!!

..and the flag was still there!!

Note the poor visibility!!
